Short introduction

Dr. Nguyen Minh Quy obtained Phd degree of probabilistic methods in waterway design from Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. He has been involved in research and design on port engineering for over 14 years. His research interest is port structural analysis, and safety aspects in ship's navigation. N.M. Quy has worked for the Transport Engineering Design Incorporation (TEDI), Ministry of Transport, Vietnam. For more details Click here;

PhD Project
I have developed a new probabilistic model to assess safety criteria of approach channel; in which the channel depth and channel width will be studied in an integrated way. So that real probability of ship's accident (collision or grounding) will be appropriately evaluated. The model could be not only used in the design of waterways, but also in the real time assessment of navigation safety.
